Control. It’s such a temptation but reality has it’s way
On the whole, even the best situations
have some things you just can’t change
The old “It’s all just illusion” don't work when the bills ain’t paid.
It’s cold, but when you run from the truth it comes back to bite you someday

Does it all go when your eyes close and the light’s gone away?
Is it still real if you can’t feel or you can’t hear what they say?
Maybe it’s all - maybe it’s all gone, all gone now

The world disappears when you’re not watching
It ends when you close your eyes?
But then it returns when we’re back watching
So really now nobody minds – nobody minds

Alone, my eyes own the vision, they keep everything they see
On my own, I take it all in and that how it comes home with me
On the phone, they’ll dial you in of you like for a nominal fee
Even so, no matter how you are living, observing your life is still free

Coming down, I see through the curtains, I see through the old tired way
All around, almost nothing is certain but death, taxes, daylight and change
I have found if I keep the lines open I might even like what you say
(I have found no matter how much I worry it won’t fix the world anyway)
One the ground, the galaxy’s turning and no doubt it’s gonna remain
